Andrea arrived at Oscar’s Place in March 2023 and was completely scared of humans. She was rescued from an auction and had clearly been traumatized… but she was curious from her first day here and watched us humans closely.

So we began a long and slow process of socializing Andrea and showing her that humans can be trusted. We would spend 30 minutes on our knees, hunched over, and looking away from her with a treat in our hands as she inched close enough to grab the treat and run off.

Andrea arrived already pregnant, and we watched as her belly grew wider and wider, until she finally had her baby—Fred! She is a fiercely protective mom but lets our team snuggle him (if somewhat begrudgingly!). Fred is quite the fluffy character and loves humans so much.  He is the first to run up to visitors to say hello and rub all over them.
